Something I experienced towards the beginning of this year before I set off on my travels I will refer to as "shifting baseline syndrome" where you become so used to something that it now becomes normal to you, and rather strangely you begin to become bored of your surroundings as if nothing new will ever happen, even if where you live is full of nature and beauty.

Coming back from my travels was like one big reset button. Before I was so fixated on the immobile and unchanging mountain landscape, with its lack of vegetation and on a swift glace, lack of life. With a new lease on the landscape, I've been enjoying exploring in new ways and finding such life all around me.

Nothing is more a practise of this when showing someone around the places you love. Those moments both small and large which have become so common place to you all of a sudden become things of wonder and joy again, and everything seems so new.
