7th October // A Ray of Light

Y Garn // N53.117 W-4.047

Having watched the sun from my window all day, I decided to do an impromptu hike up Y Garn to try and catch the sunset. After all, why did I move my life so close to the mountains if it wasn't for this?

Summer is always a strange time for me, never living up to my expectations and often leading to creative burnout, and as such, I've been neglecting evening outings.

As I arrived at the Ogwen Valley, clouds had begun enveloping the light and as I began the steep ascent, my akhilies were aching. With the conditions only worsening I questioned why I continually insisted upon reaching the summit. From the summit, the sky was under a single blanket of gray, save for a single strip near the horizon, 20 minutes before sunset by my approximation.

So I hunkered down, layered up, and fought the cold. Until finally the sun appeared through the gap. And for a brief moment, mountainside was illuminated by light.
