19th May // Floating atop the clouds

The Orme // N53.335 W-3.870

High atop the clouds sit I
warm between the sheets
as the dusty afternoon rolls by.

What began as walk down old paths through the dense mist turned into something else altogether,

otherworldly.

I have been finding great joy in letting go of chasing a particular moment and being present in whatever is in front of me at that moment, giving the moment space to breathe without expectation.

Without expectation, nature more often than not rewards you, and this is what happened as I emerged out of the canopy of clouds to witness the carpeting of low lying clouds of the ocean, with the plateau atop The Orme being nested in-between this and a layer of higher clouds, with streaks of light piercing through the gaps.

I sat and soaked in the moment, capturing but also allowing myself to be present, watching as the soft blanket of clouds shifted its form so subtly, fringing the edge of the limestone cliffs, ageless and vast. The verge between the cliff and the abyss. Cars drove along the mountain road and disappeared below, and groups of people would come and take photos in the distance. I wondered if anyone in the town below knew what was happening up here.

Then in one final display the clouds shifted upwards, like some rising creature from beneath the waves, riding the warming current to surface for air.

Then as softly as they came the clouds were gone.
