26th August // The Paps of Jura

Loch Eil // N55.902 W-5.978

My main objective for this Scotland trip was a trip to Jura where Iā€™d planned to hike around the island. Trying to navigate a small weather window I found myself having to change plans and bail on this idea. With the ferry already pre-booked I decided I would still check out the rugged island and embark on hiking The Paps of Jura, 3 scree sided mountains, completing a 16.5km circular hike with 1400 meters of elevation.

I can honestly say this is one of my favourite hikes in Scotland. It had everything you could ask for, dramatic rocky scenery, a view of the ocean, the feeling of remoteness and just enough challenge to constantly keep your attention as you navigate bogs, clouds and heaps of scree.
