17th March // Following the Coast
Llyn Peninsular // N52.805 W-4.660

With my van up and running again I took my friend off on a tour of the Llyn Peninsular to see some of what the North Welsh Coast has to offer. This outing was a lot of staring at tiny things. Rocks, Creatures and Shells.

I became absolutely fascinated with the patterns in the rocks at Porth Ceiriad. I definitely need to look into the geology some more, but the weathering patterns were incredible.

I’ve been exploring more portrait photography, which is definitely easier when I’m travelling with a friend than by myself. Having come out of a creative slump it’s been so rewarding to see my progress with new types of photography which I haven’t explored much in the past.

Porth Ysgo
After a brief stop for lunch we drove North across the Peninsular to Traeth Porthor for a coastal geology walk.
Whilst looking for Jasper - which is an aggregate of quartz - meaning that it is quartz mixed with an impurity of silica - we discovered a small gap under the rocks and found a cave consisting almost entirely of Jasper.

A trip to the beach wouldn’t be complete without some rock pooling, then we headed along the coastal path until dusk, before heading back for the evening.
